Charles William LeonardAge: 89 • South BurlingtonCharles William Leonard, "Charlie", 89, of South Burlington, passed away peacefully on, Monday January 16, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at The UVM Medical Center.Charlie was born on January 11, 1928, son of the late William "Kip" and Marjorie Leonard. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1946 and served in the U.S. Army following graduation.Charlie worked as a service writer for C.H. Goss Company for 15 years. He worked his final job as General Manager for Maynard Auto Supply for 27 years. He enjoyed snowmobiling, woodworking, puzzles, feeding and observing small wildlife. Charlie also had an exceptional way of providing love and laughter to any situation even in his last days.Charlie married his childhood sweetheart Betty Jane Munnett, "Janie" on July 3, 1948. They were married for 68 years. In addition to Janie, Charlie is survived by their children Brian Leonard and Timothy Leonard and his wife Theresa; by his sister, Nancy Leonard. Also, by his grandchildren, Benjamin Leonard, Kaitlin Forward and her husband Thomas, Kerry Dawson and her husband Jason. His Great-Grandson Aiden Dawson and many additional family and friends. Charlie is preceded in death by daughter in-law Susan Leonard. The family of Charlie Leonard wishes to thank the nurses, doctors and staff of UVM Medical center who provided great care, compassion and, sympathy to him and his family. Calling Hours will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm on Friday January 20, 2017 at The Ready Funeral Home and Cremation Services South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Rd. Burlington VT. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 am on Saturday January 21, 2017 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church 160 Hinesburg Rd. South Burlington.
