Charles Jones Sr., was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 30, 1941 and passed away on Tuesday, September 03, 2019. Charles, affectionately known as "Charlie", was born to his proud parents Theodore Jones and Yvonne Zeringue. Charles grew up on the South East Side of Chicago and attended Burnside Elementary School and graduated from Corliss High School in 1958.

Shortly after completing high school, he was introduced to Barbara Frye, and three years later they married  and had four kids. Charles worked at Chicago Transit Authority until he retired in 2004. He volunteered at Ingalls Memorial Hospital and was passionate about affecting the most positive change in people. 

Charles served his country in the Army for 10 years. 

Charles is survived by 4 children: Charles Jones III (Sandra Jones ), Devon Jones (Tracy Jones), Maurice Washington (Juanakee Smith-Washington), and Samuel Washington.
