Charles Franklin Rickard of Sacramento, California, passed away on Monday, October 24, in Auburn, California after a courageous battle recovering from an automobile accident. He leaves behind a loving family; his wife, Sharon, daughter, Katy Weiss, granddaughter, Chloe, and son, Jimmy Boles. He is also survived by his three sisters, Cindy Wallace, Carolyn Rickard and Cathy Rickard. He was born on January 27, 1943. His parents were Glenn and Rae Rickard of Oakland, Ca. A lifelong learner and teacher in California public schools, "Chuck" was a multi-talented and devoted educator known for his love of science, woodworking, classical music, and gardening. Most recently he was the publisher of the Sacramento Tomato and Pepper Report which had many local subscribers. His studies in gardening helped many master techniques to improve their own gardens. Over the years he acquired large collections of books, geological artifacts, and a musical library; eagerly sharing his knowledge and skill with everyone. His memorial celebration will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1300 N Street, Sacramento, Ca,95814 on November 13, 2016, at 3pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made for the benefit of the college fund of his granddaughter, Chloe, c/o Katy Weiss.
