SPRINGETTSBURY TWP. Charles E. Hemler, Jr., 90, died Saturday, October 17, 2015, at his residence. Charles was born on April 26, 1925, in York, a son of the late Helen (Winand) and Charles E. Hemler, Sr. He retired from the former R.S. Noonan as an engineer estimator. He was a graduate of York Catholic High School where he was the class valedictorian. He was a graduate of Villanova University. He was a U.S.
Armyveteran of
WWII. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and loved playing the steel guitar. The viewing will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church, 309 S. George St. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Jonathan Sawicki as the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Charles is survived by two sisters, Rosemarie E. Hemler of York and Shirley Dunbar of Schencksville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Sowers. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church.
