Cecile Marie GallentPineville - Cecile Marie Gallent was born on August 2, 1929 to the late Felix and Annie Normand in Alexandria. She departed this life of 88 years on Tuesday morning, October 10, 2017, in Lafayette, surrounded by her family who prayed with her as she prepared to enter into the eternal joy and peace of the Lord.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2017, at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, 626 4th Street, Alexandria. Visitation will be observed at Hixson Brothers Alexandria, from 10:00 a.m. until shortly before time of service at the Cathedral.Affectionately known as "Nanny" to her family, Cecile was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She was a parishioner and actively involved at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pineville for many years, before returning home to St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Alexandria. She endured heartache and pain throughout her life, yet her devotion to God never wavered. She was a devout Catholic who had a special devotion to Mary, our Beloved Mother, so it is only fitting that she be buried on the 100th Anniversary of the Apparitions at Fatima. In addition to her holiness, she will be remembered for her feisty attitude, strong will, delicious pecan pies and her love for Notre Dame football, and crossword puzzles.Those left to cherish her memories are one daughter, Cynthia Graves (Randy), four sons, Vince Gallent, Jr. (Betty Jo), Frank Gallent, Albert Gallent and Douglas Gallent (Joan); four granddaughters she raised as her own, Christa Clubb Spurlock, Ashley Savoy (Chris), Tonia Pontiff (Chris) and Jessica Keith (Abner). She is also survived by seven additional grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Candace Gallent Clubb, two brothers and two sisters.Honored to serve as pallbearers are Vince Gallent, Jr., Randall Gallent, Robert Gallent, Chris Savoy, Max Savoy, Chris Pontiff, Joshua Pontiff and Gabriel Pontiff.
