Catherine Humbert Mascaro Brooks 1928-2015 Catherine Humbert Mascaro Brooks, 87, of Port Royal, SC, widow of Albert J. Mascaro, Sr. and Glen D. Brooks, died peacefully Sunday, October 18, 2015 in Beaufort Memorial Hospital after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 23, 2015 from 1:00 to 2:00pm at Port Royal United Methodist Church. Funeral services will begin at 2:00pm on Friday, October 23, 2015 in Port Royal United Methodist Church with interment in St. Helena Cemetery. Mrs. Brooks was born on September 8, 1928 in Charleston, SC. She is the daughter of the late Wheeler Salsbury Humbert and Ida (Florrie) Ferira Humbert. Catherine's family moved to Port Royal in 1930 where she resided for the next 85 years. She attended Port Royal School and Beaufort High School where she graduated in 1946. Catherine worked briefly at Blue Channel Crab Factory and Metcalf's Store in Port Royal. She was married to Albert Mascaro in 1948 until his passing in 1995. She married again in 1997 to Glen Brooks who predeceased her in April of this year. She was an honorary member of Faith Chapter #167 Order of the Eastern Star. She was, also, a long standing member of The Daughters of America Chapter 43. She was a member of St. Helena Episcopal Church until joining the Port Royal Methodist Church in 1990 where she was an active member until her diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease. Catherine is survived by one daughter, Kathy (Dan) Mascaro Knisley of Port Royal, SC; six grandchildren; Dylan, Kate and Rosie Knisley; Kelsey, Taylor and Merryn Mascaro and one great grandchild, Brayden Mascaro. She is predeceased by her son, Albert Mascaro, Jr. and step sister Lillian Humbert Brooks. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 23, 2015 from 1:00 to 2:00pm at Port Royal United Methodist Church. Funeral services will begin at 2:00pm on Friday, October 23, 2015 in Port Royal United Methodist Church with interment in St. Helena Cemetery.
