JACKSONVILLE, NC - Cassandra Rose Payne, 24, formerly of Appleton, passed away Thursday June 30, 2016 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on August 14th, 1991 in Neenah, WI, daughter of Bob and Pamela (Stevens) Crosby. Cassandra graduated from Appleton North High School in 2009. She married Aaron Payne on October 8, 2009. Cassandra and Aaron moved to North Carolina in 2009, where Aaron serves in the U.S. Marine Corps. Cassandra worked a few jobs while in high school, but her most rewarding job was being a stay at home mother to her son, Oliver. She loved helping people, especially victims of abuse and those suffering from anxiety and depression. Through social media sites and forums, she positively affected the lives of countless individuals. Cassandras favorite hobby was vaping. Her body was her canvas for tattoos and piercings, in which she used to express her powerful emotions. She loved Disney movies and musicals, and was quick to learn every song. Cassandra was quick to give all her love to people, even those she just met. Even after her death, her love and generosity continued with her gift of eye and tissue donation. Cassandra is survived by her husband, Aaron; her son, Oliver; her mother and father: Pamela and Bob Crosby; her maternal grandparents: Erv and Patricia Stevens; paternal grandmother: Margaret Larsen; mother and father in-law: Mary and James Payne; two half sisters: Ashley Chancellor, and Alicia Sandoval; brother in-law, William (Kate) Payne; her aunt, Pennie (Don) Thiele; Uncle, Rick Crosby; four cousins: Katelyn Thiele (fiancé Nick Ball), Conner (Lauren) Thiele, Jesse Crosby, and Tina Giese; She is further survived by many additional aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her cat Boots Boo Boo. Cassandra was preceded in death by her brother, Nicholas Stevens; and her paternal grandfather, LaVerne Larsen. Funeral service for Cassandra will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday July 9, 2016 at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. Mike Huff officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday morning beginning at 11:00 AM until the hour of service.
