CLARKE, Carol Lynne (Hooton)1945 – 2017 It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Carol Lynne Clarke (Hooton) on April 20, 2017. Carol was born on April 3, 1945, the first child to William and Mildred Hooton. She was raised in South Burnaby and was an active member of South Burnaby United Church while growing up. She graduated from Burnaby South Secondary in 1963, where she had been an exemplary student and athlete. After high school she entered the VGH School of Nursing and found her calling in pediatrics. Upon graduation she was awarded the General Proficiency Award. She married John Clarke in 1969, and they purchased their first and only family home in 1971, in N. Burnaby. On June 10, 1973, she gave birth to Janine, and Lara followed in 1975. While raising a family, Carol was immersed in a huge number of their activities, and was an intelligent and supportive lead in multiple business ventures with John. In 1997, she was diagnosed with epilepsy, but it never slowed her down. A role model for: perseverance, humility, kindness, and forgiveness, she was the Anchor and Angel of the family. She had boundless energy and unconditional love, which was always evident when she spent time with any of her 5 granddaughters. Time with them was the most precious time of her life. Carol is survived by husband John, daughters and granddaughters Janine (Alyssa, Kiera), Lara (Hailey, Kyla, Brooke) and brother Robert (Lori, Raylene, Carmen, Brock). She is also survived by extended family, and many who she considered as family. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Mildred Hooton. We will have a Private Family Service upon the interment of Carol's ashes. A separate Celebration of Life will follow on a date yet to be determined, likely the end of May. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to B.C. Children's Hospital, or any agency that supports those living with Epilepsy.
