LORAIN – Carlos Gonzalez, Sr., 74 of Lorain, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 5, 1942 in Lares, Puerto Rico. He came to Lorain in 1969. Carlos retired from the Ford Brookpark Engine Plant in 2001. He worked there for 31 years. He was member of the United Auto Workers Local 1250 in Brookpark. Carlos attended Sacred Heart Chapel where he was a very active parishioner. He was a member of the Cursillo movement and was also a member of the Charismatic Renewal Movement for over 40 years. He also participated in the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Charismatic Renewal Choir, visiting the sick, Meals on Wheels, and also served as a Eucharistic Minister. He loved gardening and playing dominoes. He loved helping others and especially spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 51 years, Iris Gonzalez (née Figueroa) of Lorain; sons Carlos (Maria) Gonzalez Jr.; Efrain (Patricia) Gonzalez; daughters Lissette (Eddie) Colon; Nana (Joey) Colon; Tonya Gonzalez, all of Lorain; 11 Grandchildren and 1 Great grandchild on the way; brothers Gonzalo, Geronimo, Jesus, Miguel, Francisco; sisters Irma, Carmen and Iris. Carlos was preceded in death by his parents Guillermo and Julia Gonzalez, brothers Guillito and Efrain Gonzalez; sisters Blanca Gonzalez and Constancia Rivera. His family will receive friends Monday, December 5th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44055. Friends may also call Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Father William A. Thaden will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
