Carl Taylor, 80, went to be with the Lord on February 27, 2013 in Phoenix, AZ. He was born on December 2, 1932 in Yuma, AZ. Carl graduated from Yuma High School, and then served in the U.S. Army. He then became a truck driver and retired after many years for Bruce Church, Inc. He was a member of American Legion Post 56. Carl enjoyed fishing, baseball, the rodeo in particular bull riding, and dancing. One of his passions was playing baseball; in the 1970's he played for the Agricola Del Norte in Ciudad Morelos B.C. a minor league baseball team. Carl is survived by his children, Carla Taylor Gonzales of Yuma, AZ, Bobby Taylor, Sheila Taylor of California, Jennifer Soto, Elvia (Steve) Keist and Barbara (Jaime) Bajo all of Yuma, AZ, Gloria (Alex) Carrion and Martha Soto, both of Abilene, TX, Jimmy Soto of Alaska, and Louis (Donna) Soto of California; grandchildren, Jasmine Varela, Erica Livas, Tony Contreras, Jaime Arviso, Adrian Soto, Kayla Cabrales, Tyler Keist, Braden Baughman, Aaron Baughman, Virginia Bajo and Jaime Jr. Bajo, all of Yuma, AZ, Yolanda Carrion of Abilene, TX, David Soto, Vanessa Soto Wright, Victoria, of Yuma, AZ, Leo Soto and Vivian Soto of Abilene, TX, Tommy and Timothy Soto of California, and Joseph Soto of California; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elvia Soto; parents, John and Thelma Edwards; brothers, Warner Taylor, Lemon Taylor, Eddie Taylor, Nathaniel Taylor and sisters, Naomi Dee's, Dorothy Allison, Delores Allison, Virginia Nordike and Evelyn Richardson. Viewing will be held at Johnson Mortuary on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Services will be at Johnson Mortuary on Thursday March 7, 2013 at 11:00am. His final resting place will be at Desert Lawn Memorial next to his beloved wife. Pallbearers will be Aaron Baughman, Branden Baughman, Calvin Taylor, Ike Wilson, Cedric Shepard, and Michael Bosque. Honorary pallbearers are Howard Taylor, Johnny Taylor and Sherman James.
