KANE, Charles Jude "Jud" Bridgewater, age 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and family on October 29, 2016 after a brief, unexpected illness. Jud was born on March 8, 1937, in Norwood, MA, son of Harold J. and Helen V. Kane. He was raised and educated in Braintree and attended Arch Bishop Williams High School. Following graduation from Northeastern University, he became a civil engineer for the US
Army and the Flatley Company. Jud served as the Water Commissioner for the town of Bridgewater for over 30 years and was a member of the Weymouth Elks and the Bridgewater Lions Clubs. Jud was an auxiliary firefighter and an avid collector of antique firefighter memorabilia. He will be greatly missed by his wife, five daughters, twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many good friends. We will remember him most as "Grampy". Jud is survived by his wife of forty-two years, G. Diane Kane, of Bridgewater and five daughters; Jennifer Kane White and her husband Richard White, of Bridgewater, along with their daughters Alexandra, Sidney and Brooke; Laurie Smith, of Bridgewater and her children Matthew Smith and Erica and TJ Washburn, and their son Mason; Patti Dardano and Michael Gardner, of Boston; Julie and Perry Cicalis, of Bridgewater and their children Stephanie, Kristina and Matthew; Kristin Dardano and Lilibeth Denham, of Northampton, and their children Christopher and Lily Grace; Brother-in-law Gordon Reefe; Nephews Steve and Mark Reefe, and niece Kate Reefe and their families. He was predeceased by his sister Maureen Reefe, brother and sister-in-law Peter and Mary Kane, and nephew Peter Kane.
