Butch Hester, age 65, of Clovis, NM passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, TX surrounded by his family and friends.Butch was born on January 17, 1952, to Ray and Lodie Hester in Melrose, NM. He married Ruby Eshleman September 16, 1972, in Melrose, NM. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, camping, and taking his grandkids on vacations. Butch was a member of the National Guard BTRY D 4th BN 200 ADA and served his country for six years. He was a Market Manager for Furrs Supermarket for 27 years, after retiring from Furrs, he sold dairy equipment for Tidenberg's Welding for the next several years. He and his wife Ruby also opened and ran their own tanning salon for 17 years. Butch liked to buy and sell anything he could. He enjoyed working hard and has been doing so since he was about 11 years old.Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Ruby; daughter, Rachelle Barrera and her husband, Martin, of Shallowater, TX; son, Newlee Hester and his wife, Sara, of Lubbock, TX; his three precious grandkids that he loved dearly, Kagan, Kenley, and Branson; and his adopted family Shane, Missy, Saylor, and Tristan Seratt. He is also survived by his mother, Lodie Hester, of Melrose, NM; one sister Dianna Hester, two brothers, Mike (Suzie) Hester, and Charles (Diana) Hester; mother-in-law, Verna Eshleman; and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.He was preceded in death by his dad, Ray Hester, his grandparents, and his father-in-law, JC Eshleman.Visitation will be Wednesday, February 1, 2017, from 1:00-7:00 pm at Muffley Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, February 2, 2017, at Living Stones Nazarene Church, 1800 North Norris, Clovis, NM, with Steve Friskup officiating. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
