WENDELL - Bryant Edsel Bennett, 85, of 439 Fowlkes Street, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at WakeMed.
He was born on October 23, 1927, to the late James Marvin Bennett and Curtie Edwards Bennett. Bryant served his country in the U.S. Army, and was a retired auto mechanic with the Post Exchange of Camp Lejeune.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 at Hephzibah Baptist Church, Wendell with the Rev. Aaron Wallace and the Rev. William Sanderson officiating. Graveside service follows at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 at Onslow Memorial Park, 3280 Richlands Hwy.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Gloria Jenrette Bennett; son, Bryant E. "Eddie" Bennett, II (Jo-Ann) of Wendell; daughter, Gloria Shayne B. Mullins (Phil) of Wendell; grandchildren, Michael Bynum (Brandy), David Bennett, Jason Bennett (Julie), and Ashley McNabb (Joey); great-grandchildren, Owen Bynum, Aiden Helton and Calleigh McNabb; sisters, Audrey Thompson of Greensboro; Winifred Benditz of Greensboro, Jocelyn Maxwell of Jacksonville, Fla., and Carol Jean Bland of White Lake; and brother, Jimmy Bennett of Orlando, Fla.
In addition to his parents, Bryant was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Miller; and brothers, Rudolph Bennett and Kenwood Bennett.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hephzibah Baptist Church, 1794 Wendell Blvd., Wendell, N.C. 27591.
