Bryan Wilson ClantonHumboldt, TNBryan "Wilson" Clanton of Madison County, TN passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 8, 2017.Wilson was born on October 10, 1925 in Decatur, AL. His father had moved there following his brother (Walter Lewis Clanton) after the death of their father in 1911. While there he worked for the railroad and partnered with his brother in owning a Laundry. He met and married his wife there after returning from WWI. After losing his job and business during the depression he moved his wife and son back to the Windy City Community in Madison County in 1932.Wilson attended Pope School after which he was drafted in the Army in1943 and served in the Asia Theater during WWII. After the war he returned to the farm. In the 1960s he worked heavy road construction helping to build Interstate 40 from the Tennessee River to Memphis, TN and the 45 Bypass around Jackson, TN. After which he owned Arnold's Septic Tank Company until his retirement. He was a lifelong member and Deacon of Bethel Baptist Church in northwest Madison County. On October 17, 1947 he married the love of his life, Dorothy Evelyn Heavner, daughter of Gordie Franklin and Mollie Belle Heavner.He was preceded in death by his son, Cary "Dean" Clanton; his parents, John James and Clara Lee Clark Clanton; his grandparents, Richard Thomas and Nancy Ella Hugley Clanton and his great grandparents, Josiah F. and Martha DeLoach Clanton Hicks. Wilson is survived by his loving wife of over 69 years, Dorothy Evelyn Heavner Clanton; a son, John Wilson Canton (Kathie) of Jackson; and daughters, Dorothy "Angela" Clanton Badgett (Michael) of Jackson and Judith "Judy" Lee Clanton Pigue (Robert "Bob") of Bells, TN. Grandchildren, Bryan Wilson Clanton II (Mary) of Murfreesboro, TN, Jonathan Richard Clanton (Robin) of Memphis, TN, Rebecca Badgett Meraz (Aaron) of Prosper, TX, Michael R. Badgett, Jr. (Allison) of Jackson, TN, Ethan Dean Clanton (Amy) of Cedar Grove, TN, Joel "Stephen" Clanton of Humboldt, TN, Kristy Heather Clanton Dew (Robert) of Jackson, TN, Kary Beth Clanton Pierce of Jackson, TN , Zada Katherine Clanton Hopkins (Drew) of Jackson, TN, Julie Elizabeth Clanton of Murfreesboro, TN, Jason Robert Pigue (Michelle) of Bells, TN, Daniel Lee Pigue (Katie) of Bells, TN, John Edward Pigue (Lacy) of Bells, TN, and fourteen great grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel on Tuesday, April 11, 2017. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
