Brett A. BishopNEW WASHINGTON: Brett A. Bishop, age 45, resident of New Washington, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 21, 1971 in Galion Ohio to Ronald and Betty (Hiler) Bishop and was a lifelong New Washington resident. Brett was a 1989 graduate of Buckeye Central High School and co-owner of Buckeye Painting. Brett enjoyed all types of sports, coaching many teams and following his sons' in their sporting events over the years. He was also a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church in New Washington. He is survived by his wife, April L. (Smith) Bishop whom he married on September 4, 1993; two sons, Carter and Grant Bishop; his parents, Ron and Betty Bishop of New Washington; a sister, Deb (Andy) Thurner of Moscow, Ohio; a brother, Mark (Kim) Bishop of New Washington; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his grandparents. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at the St. Bernard Catholic School Gymnasium, in New Washington, Ohio. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 AM at the St. Bernard Catholic Church with Father Eric Culler officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
