Billie Rose Minard of Tawas City passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016 at the Iosco County Medical Care Facility, age 86 years. Billie was born on Dec. 7, 1929 in Saginaw to Kenneth and Rose (Blehm) Carpenter. After high school graduation, she furthered her education at Michigan State University where she earned her bachelor's degree in journalism. Billie worked for many years at the Michigan State Extension office as a family aid worker. She will always be remembered for her enjoyment of reading, playing bingo and cards, especially poker and bridge. Above all, Billie truly was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She absolutely adored and cherished all the time she could spend with her family. Billie will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her six loving children, Rebecca (Pat) Woiden of Caro, Mark (Laura) Minard of South Carolina, Gina Minard of Tawas City and her significant other, Nelson Robinson, Sue Ann Moore of Tawas City, Laurel Minard of Grand Rapids and Melissa (Frank) Lepard of Tawas City; 14 grandchildren, Alison, Tyler, Caitlin, Danielle, Donovan, Nicholas, Logan, Isabelle, Jessica, Michelle, Ian, Antoinette, and Anita; 12 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Ecil Minard in 2000; one sister, Doris Johnson; and her parents, Kenneth and Rose Carpenter. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Tawas. Her family will welcome friends at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon. Per her wishes, cremation will take place after the funeral mass. Those wishing to express their sympathy through a memorial contribution are asked to consider either the Iosco and Arenac Public Library or to the Woodlands Unit at the Iosco County Medical Care Facility (Alzheimer's unit).
