She was born on November 9, 1929 in Marshalltown, IA to Edwin and Ruth (Kimball) Shaffer. Beverly is survived by her children, Valerie (Rod) Schmitt of Bonaparte, IA, Keven (Deirdre) Priske of Bentonville, AR, and Deborah Barker of Ankeny, IA; step-children, Michael (Nini) Long of Perry, IA, and Patti Allen of Ankeny, IA; brother, William Shaffer; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin Long; parents; brothers, Edwin Shaffer, Jr., Gerry Shaffer, and Michael Shaffer; and sister, Linda Summers. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. after the memorial service at the funeral home.
