Betty Lou McKahanTHORNVILLE: Betty Lou McKahan, age 89 of Thornville, formerly of New Concord, passed away at home surrounded by family, on Saturday, March 11, 2017. She was born on October 23, 1927 in Maxine, W.V., a daughter of the late Harlan Collins and Emma (Preston) Collins. Mrs. McKahan attended Rose Farm High School and then graduated from Roseville High School. Betty retired from Champion Spark Plug with 33 years of service. She was a member of the Church of Christ in New Concord and the Champion Spark Plug Retirees. She was also an active member of the West Main Street Senior Center and Sunrise Senior Centers in Zanesville, where she enjoyed euchre, line dancing and square dancing several days a week. Betty is survived by: her children, Phyllis Wycoff of New Concord, Mack McKahan of Cambridge, Jeanine Young of Zanesville and Janis (Dudley) Johnson of Mariettta, GA; grandchildren, Missy Morgan, Brad (& Kelly) Morgan, Krista Morgan, Brock (& Kerri) Morgan, Heather McKahan, Brooke (& Jo) McKahan, Shannon (& Gabe) Coblentz, Brenin (& Bonnie) Young, Leslie (& Dustin) Damron and Erika (& Dexter) Sigman Campbell; nineteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; a brother Bill Collins of Crooksville; many nieces and nephews; and two sister-in-laws, Marilyn Collins and Thelma McKahan.She is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband Harold L. McKahan on December 12, 1999, they were married on February 14, 1949. Also deceased are her mother and father -in-law, Robert C & Ethel McKahan; two grandsons, William "Billy" Morgan and Bobby Morgan; a son-in-law Bill Wycoff; two sisters Glenna (& Clarence) Gossman and Blanch Gossman Channel; brothers, Raymond (& Helen) Collins, Frank (& Dolly) Collins; brother-in-laws, Edwin Gossman, Ron Channel, Homer McKahan, Raymond (& Lemoine) McKahan and John (& Betty) McKahan.It takes a special kind of person(s) and sacrifices to be able to care for individuals with Dementia. Thank you Brenin, Bonnie, Arbour, Breleigh & Isaac Young for taking such good care of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother/ great great grandmother.Visitation will be on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Bundy-Law Funeral Home from 3 to 7 pm and on Friday at New Concord United Methodist Church from 9 to 10 am with the service at 10 am. Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh will officiate the service with burial to follow in New Concord Cemetery.
