ROME CITY — Betty Jean Knach, 82, of Rome City and formerly of Albion, died on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. She was born on Sept. 4, 1933, in Albion to the late John and Ruth (Moore) Harlan. She was a 1951 graduate of Albion Jefferson High School. On May 21, 1955, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Avilla, she married Frank Knach. He survives. Betty was employed for 20 years as first deputy auditor with the Noble County Auditor's Office. She was a member of St. Gaspar del Bufalo Catholic Church in Rome City and belonged to the Rosary Society . She was a devoted wife and friend. She enjoyed camping, flowers and gardening, and cared a great deal for her friends. She is survived by her husband Frank; a son, Randy (Lois Pelz) Knach of Columbia City; daughters, Brenda (Herman) Conley of Rome City and Linda (Scott) Gray of Albion; brothers, Arnold (Sara) Harlan of Lafayette and Thomas (Bonnie) Harlan of Ocala, Florida. Also surviving are grandchildren, Thad (April) Conley, Ty (Mindy) Conley, Ashley Gray, Tyler Gray, Levi (Karlie) Knach and Chet Smith; six great-grandchildren; and one great-grandson on the way. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at St. Gaspar del Bufalo Catholic Church, 10871 N. S.R. 9, Rome City, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, at Harper Funeral Homes, Albion Chapel, 771 Trail Ridge Road, Albion. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Avilla. Memorials are to Riley Hospital for Children or .
