Betty J. Squier, age 90, of Rushboro, Pa., passed away on Monday, Nov. 7, 2016 at her home.Betty was born on June 1, 1926, in Newton, N.J., the daughter of the late Donald I. (Feb. 19, 1986) and Merle Baker Carter (March 18, 1993). She graduated from the West Auburn High School. Betty married Glenn V. Squier on Jan. 14, 1957 and the couple was married for 46 years until his death on Sept. 7, 2003.Betty was a very artistic and crafty woman. She liked tending to her garden of vegetables and flowers. She enjoyed reading, especially Stephen King novels. She also enjoyed watching movies and her favorite TV show "The X-Files." Betty loved animals, in particular her cats. She had a great sense of humor as well. She was very family oriented and loved being surrounded by her loving family. Betty is survived by her daughters, Christina Salsman of Laceyville, Pa., and Susan Sane of Laceyville, Pa.; step-children, Jean Seamans of Nicholson, Pa., Leah Emmons of Springville, Pa., Richard (Joanne) Squier of Nicholson, Pa.; 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband of 46 years and her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Ann Crayton (April 24, 2003); son, Robin Smith (March 11, 2010); brother, Earl K. Carter (Dec. 9, 2000); and brother, John W. Carter Sr. (Dec. 10, 2008).Funeral services for Betty will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 at Sheldon Funeral Homes, 459 Main St., Laceyville, Pa., with the Reverend Charles Bishop of the Transue and Elk Lake Community Churches officiating. Interment will be held at the Jersey Hill Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the services on Saturday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the True Friends Animal Welfare Center, 16332 SR 706, Montrose, PA 18801, or at their website www.truefriendsawc.com.
