Betty J. ShipleyWHITE COTTAGE: Betty J. Shipley, 91, of White Cottage, died at 7:25 p.m. Fri. May 1, 2015 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. She was born on October 6, 1923 in White Cottage a daughter of the late James E. and Laura (Tipton) Drake. She worked in the bakery at Campbell's Foodland for 29 years. She was an original member of the Growing Together CCL and an original member of the Newton Township Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxilliary "Fireflies". She also enjoyed crocheting. She is survived by two sons, David H. Shipley, Jr., of Somerset and Danny (Nancy) Shipley, of Zanesville; two grandchildren, Michael and Dustin Shipley; three great grandchildren, Kyannah, Emory, and Danny. She was a grandmother figure to Cody Hughes; special dog, D.D. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, David Herschel Shipley, Sr. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2015 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2015. Preacher Bobby Pettit officiating. Burial will follow in Wesley Union Cemetery.
