Bessie Waites1928 - 2014Bessie Waites, 85, of Kenosha passed away on Thursday April 24, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family.Bessie was born on June 20, 1928, in Mississippi. She was educated in the schools of Mississippi. She married George Waites on February 26, 1949 in Mississippi. Bessie was employed as a nurses assistant at the North Chicago VA Hospital for many years. Her hobbies included fishing, cooking, reading the bible, and spending time with her family and friends.Survivors include her children, Calvin Franklin of Kenosha, CJ Franklin of Kenosha, Jerry Waites of Waukegan, Ill., Danny Waites of Kenosha, Rodney Waites of Kenosha, and Ronald Waites of Kenosha; a brother, Booker Franklin Jr. of Kenosha; a sister, Virginia Shelly of Waukegan, Ill.; many grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, George Waites; brothers, Frank and OB Franklin; sisters, Pearlie Brownlee, and a great grandson, Andre Ross Jr.A visitation will be held on Thursday May 1, 2014, at the Greater Mt. Hebron Church, 7445-20th Ave., from 9-11 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m. Burial at Green Ridge Cemetery.
