Bernard M Seal Jr. of Memphis, Tennessee passed away peacefully Sunday morning, March 1st, 2020. Known by family and friends as “Bob, Bobby, or Daddy Bob,” he was just shy of reaching his 84th birthday, a milestone that would have been celebrated in June.
Bernard grew up in the East Nashville area, where he was raised by his parents alongside siblings Martha, Dorothy, Harold, and the youngest one, Robert. As a youth, Bernard loved to help his Dad work on cars, and learned the art of that skill with years of practice. In addition, like most kids back in those days, he lived to run wild in the neighborhood with his brother and sisters.
Bernard was to become an early entrepreneur in the distribution of wholesale meats in Nashville. His business supplied local grocery chains and restaurants in Nashville and the surrounding communities. Bernard ran his business until the age of 80.
At the age of 18, Bernard had fallen in love and married to Anna Mae Morehead. This husband and wife team worked hard together for 62 years, and raised six children from their union (Sheila, Sandra, Bernard (Little B), Harold, Michael, and Esther). Bernard and Anna lived and worked briefly during the post-depression era in Detroit, then moved back to Nashville, where they continued to thrive, side by side.
Bernard M Seal Jr. is preceded in death by his parents Bernard Sr. and Rebecca Seal; sisters, Martha Seal and Dorothy Seal; brothers, Harold Seal and Robert Seal.
