Bottensek, Jr., BensonBenson J. Bottensek, Jr., age 82, of Wisconsin Rapids, lovingly known as Benny, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital.Services will be at 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Martin Baur will officiate. Burial will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M on Monday, November 6, 2017 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and from 12:30 P.M. until the time of services on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the church. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.Benny was born on July 13, 1935 to Benson and Irene (Bach) Bottensek, Sr. in Seneca Township, WI on the family farm. He was a hard worker throughout his life. Benny was a graduate of Lincoln High School. He went on to join the United States
Army Reserves and would be drafted into active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Benny married the love of his life, Clara Raasch, on June 20, 1959 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where they would be active members throughout their lives together. They were blessed with two children, in addition to 58 years together. Benny lived his wedding vows to the fullest, "in sickness and in health, till death do us part." He worked for Consolidated Papers, Inc. for 43 years, until his retirement in 1997. Benny served the Town of Grant as an assessor and as a member of the planning and zoning committee. He was a patient man, especially with his loving care for Clara these past few years. Benny loved being outdoors. He taught his daughters and grandchildren how to hunt. They would make many wonderful memories fishing and hunting together. Benny could be found taking walks on the roads near his home, always having a smile and a wave for anyone who passed by. He had a helping hand for anybody who needed it. Benny was granted a final gift from God, by recently holding his first great-grandson, Hudson.Benny is survived by his wife, Clara; daughters: Tamela (Scott) Steindorf and Lisa (Brian) Schoechert; grandchildren: Joseph (Jess) Bottensek and Ted Schoechert; great-grandson, Hudson Patrick Bottensek; siblings: Elaine (Joe) Bauman, Darlene Chipman, Cheri (Barry) Rupp, Dale (Paula) Bottensek, Roger (Barbara) Bottensek, and John (Angie) Bottensek.
