Benjamin Nelson, 64, of Miami, Florida, passed on January 11, 2021, at his home. His final days were spent surrounded by a few family and friends that Benjamin had touched in some small way throughout his very memorable life.

Benjamin was born on July 11, 1956, in Miami, Florida, to Patrick and El Nora Nelson.

He attended Miami Jackson Senior High School in Miami, Fl. He continued his education at Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi., graduating in 1978 with a Bachelors degree in Physical Education.

After college, he went back to his hometown to serve his community and became a Physical Education teacher at his former high school, Jackson High. He taught for 30 years and coached the football team. His team went on to win many championship games. He impacted so many lives.

Benjamin enjoyed football and playing Scrabble with his family. He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones above all else.

He is survived by his father, Patrick Nelson; brothers and sisters along with their spouses, Roy and Catherine Nelson, Dorcel and Marsha Nelson, Leon and Rachel Nelson, Patricia Barnes and Marvin Barnes, and Edna Nelson; several nieces and nephews, and 5 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, El Nora Nelson.
