Barbara Lee McInteer Schaefer was granted her angel wings on October 28, 2016. She is survived by her high school sweetheart of 57 years, Jack; brother Johnny; four children, Meri, Patti, Michael, and Jennifer; five grandchildren, Brooke, Kyle, Jessica, Nicole, Ryan; and her faithful companion, Cookie. She was preceded in death by her son, Ricky and her brother, Mark.Barbara was born on October 17, 1941 in Washington D.C. and grew up in Bethesda, MD where she attended The Academy of the Holy Cross. While caring for her brothers in their teenage years, she met and fell in love with their football coach who soon became her husband and soul mate.She spent many years as Vice President of the family business and 10 years volunteering for Montgomery Hospice. After retirement, she split her time between Marco Island, FL and Gaithersburg, MD. where she enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren.Memorial donations in memory of Barbara may be made to Save the Manatee Club (savethemanatee.org) and Project Go (project-go.org).A funeral mass will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Garrett Park, MD at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 11, 2016.Sign the Guest Book at www.nvdaily.com/obituaries
