Heiser, 93, residing in Kenosha, Wisconsin and formerly of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 2:10 AM Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Kenosha Memorial Hospital, Kenosha, WI.Barbara was born on July 4, 1923 at St. Joseph Hospital of Mishawaka, IN to the late Frank Albright and Louise Kiser Albright formerly of Osceola, Indiana. Barbara is a 1941 graduate of Mishawaka High School. She previously worked in the Production Control Department of the US Rubber Company, Ball Band Plant in Mishawaka. While working at Ball Band, she met George L. Heiser, who was a chemist at the same plant. George and Barbara were united in marriage on June 24, 1944 in Mishawaka.Moving to Chicago in 1943 when George took over the family business, Barbara became a member of the Grace Evangelical Reformed Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Member of the Board of Elders, Sunday School Superintendent, President of the Women's Guild, and Secretary of Mission Council 8.After retirement in 1968, George and Barbara returned to South Bend to be near family and friends. Barbara was a member at Zion United Church of Christ, South Bend where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and Homebound Visitor. She and her husband, George were also a part of the Young at Heart Fellowship. Barbara was also a member and officer of the Order of Eastern Star. In later years, George and Barbara moved to Kenosha, Wisconsin to live in an assisted living facility and to be near their daughter, Barbara Sue. Her husband, George, preceded her in death in 2007.Barbara is survived by her daughter, Barbara Sue (Daniel) Barrow of Pleasant Prairie, WI; son, Leslie Leon (Phyllis) Heiser of Las Vegas, Nevada; and grandson, Zachary Barrow of Pleasant Prairie, WI; her sister Phyllis (Robert) Barrett of Birmingham, AL; and her sister in law Vi Albright of South Bend. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother Richard Albright.Funeral services for Barbara Heiser will be at Monday, December 12, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Palmer Funeral Home - River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615. Graveside services will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may gather with the family from 11:00 am until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion United Church of Christ, 715 E. Wayne, South Bend, IN 46617.
