AVILLA — Barbara A. Harper 82, passed away Monday, May 19, 2014, at Sacred Heart Home in Avilla. She was born on November 22, 1931, in New Haven to Raymond and Edna (Dean) Schuckel. She was a graduate of New Haven High School and Tri State College receiving her real estate license in May of 1988 and brokers license in 1992. She co-owned and operated HRS Remax Office in Kendallville. She enjoyed boating, fishing, reading, swimming, traveling, and sewing. She loved the time spent with family, and was a master bridge player, softball player, and bowler. She was a member of St. Marys of the Angels Church and St. Charles Borreno Church, Lake of the Woods/McClish Lake Association, Northeast Indiana Association of Realtors, including the Million Dollar Club. Barbara married James E. Harper on September 27, 1952. Survivors include her husband, James of Hudson; four sons, Terrance Harper, Mark Harper, Donald Harper and Dennis Harper; two daughters, Cynthia DeCook and Michaelle Guzman; a brother, Raymond Daniel Schuckel; a sister, Jane Knipscheer; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Marylen Pemberton; a sister-in-law, Denise Schuckel; and her father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Celica Harper. Catholic Mass will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borrneo Church at 4916 Trier Road, Fort Wayne, with Pastor Msgr. John N. Suelzer celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery in Fort Wayne. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at D. O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, and one hour prior to Mass. Memorials are to St. Marys of the Angels Church or St. Charles Borrneo Church.
