Garr, Barbara Campbell,79, passed away on September 30, 2017, at her residence. Barbara was born on May 6, 1938, in Jefferson County, KY, to James and Elva Hardesty Campbell and graduated from Southern High School. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, a longtime member of the Moose Lodge, and worked for R.J. Reynolds at the Bowman Gray Technical Research and Development center. Barbara was a skilled seamstress who would sew identical dresses for herself and her three daughters so her husband could find them in the crowd as he arrived home from deployments. She was a secretary to five bowling leagues at one time in Key West. Barbara was a Girl Scout leader in Key West and Newport Rhode Island. She could play 36 bingo cards at one time; Loved to Play and teach board and card games with everyone, especially her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family and took pride in caring for her children and grandchildren. She traveled all over the eastern seaboard as a Navy wife and a mother of four loving children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Robert Campbell one sister, Janet Bryant; and one grandson, Adam Garr. Surviving is her loving husband, Kenneth N. Garr of Winston-Salem; three daughters, Kimberly Fitz and husband Mark of Florida; Judith Uhl and husband David of Pfafftown; and Theresa Garr of Winston-Salem; one son, James A. Garr and wife Jacqueline of King; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Brenda Bryant of Charleston, SC, and Lisa Schackert and husband Greg of Louisville, KY and very special friend Naomi Foote. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00pm on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Deacon David Boissey officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, October 9, 2017, at Salisbury National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2017, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
