Avon Virginia "Ginnie" Maloney Age 96, passed away on November 10th, 2016. Ginnie was born on May 2nd, 1920 in Elkton, Oregon where she was born and raised along with her 9 other brothers and sisters. She attended High School at Elkton High School and later went on to Oregon State University. She was the first of her family to attend college and did so on a full scholarship. She majored in Home Economics. Ginnie met the love of her life, Charles Joseph Maloney, in 1943 and they were married a year later. Because of Chuck's service in the Air Force,multiple assignments found them living in Europe, Africa and the US. They finally settled in Novato where their children grew up. Ginnie was known around Novato as a home economics teacher, officer's wife, and mother to three. She taught at Sinaloa Middle School, Hill Middle School and Novato High School, where she was on the forefront of establishing the home economics program. Ginnie had many hobbies but one that she loved dearly was her passion for gardening. After retiring she quickly found herself a part of the Novato Garden Club, Retired Teachers Association, Retired Officer Wives club. Ginnie is survived by her children: Chuck (Nola), Greg (Kerry) and Ginnie (Peter), her grandchildren Jess, Jordan, Tori, Thomas, Ali and Annie and her great grandchild Carson. To say that she will be missed is an understatement, rest in paradise. A memorial service will be held this Saturday, November 19th at 4:00 at the Presbyterian Church of Novato, 710 Wilson Ave, Novato, CA.
