Audrey "Chata" Miller Mee, 82, of Midland, died peacefully at her home on Saturday October 22, 2016. Audrey was born on July 2, 1934 to Hazel and Donald Miller of Woodbridge, Connecticut. She attended Hillhouse High in New Haven, CT, and shared numerous wonderful memories about the wonderful school she graduated from. She also worked at a bank in New Haven where she met many interesting people of the town. The bank is where she met a man who encouraged her to learn to play golf and she would go on to make that her favorite hobby for a good portion of her life. She then met the love of her life, Eddie L. Mee Jr. He was enlisted at the time in the Navy so they quickly married in Woodbridge, CT, on Jan. 16, 1953 before Eddie shipped out to Cuba. They were able to have a short honeymoon in New York City before he left. Upon his return, they settled in Levelland, TX. Quite a shock for a woman coming from New England to the dry West Texas town but she settled in to life there until they moved to Odessa, TX. In Odessa they started their family first with a son, Eddie and a daughter, Wendy, then another son, Doug, and a daughter, Ellie. Life was full and busy and then came a move to Midland where Audrey and Eddie would spend the remainder of their lives and raise their children. Audrey spent many years raising her brood of 4 and shuffling them to sports, pools, friends' houses and church at Grace Lutheran. Audrey had numerous friends that she enjoyed over the years; Bob and Isabelle Angevine, Tom and Margaret Cloyd, Red and Dini Roberts, Robert and Darlene Gould, Tom and Dorothy Dolahite, Rob and Jean Satterfield, and of course Richard and Frances Harvey just to mention a few. Audrey was a wonderful wife, Mother, and friend and she will be missed greatly by her children, grandchildren, sister, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald J. and Hazel Miller, her husband, Eddie Mee Jr. and her son, Doug Mee. She is survived by her; son, Eddie Mee (Juanita) of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Wendy Mathis (Russell) of Midland; daughter, Ellie Hackey (Don) of Hatch, NM; daughter-in-law Chrissie Mee of Midland; sister, Ellie Miller-Butt of Colorado Springs, CO; sister-in-law, Abby Mee-Headrick of Laurel, MS; 9 grandchildren, Katie Mathis of Denver, CO, Andy Mee of Hurst; Laura Ferguson (Dillon) of Rapid City, SD; Holly Thompson of Hobbs, NM; Mollie Mathis of Lubbock and Midland; Audrey Hackey of Hatch, NM; Cade Hackey of Hatch, NM; John Mee and Ray Mee of Midland; numerous great-grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews, and lastly her dog Tooter that she adored and who helped her through numerous difficult times.
