Arlene Ann Sawyers passed away Sunday, January 8th in Las Cruces, NM. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald Sawyers, her 2 children, Scott Sawyers of Dallas, TX and Donna Bader and husband Jeff of Bozeman, MT, Granddaughters Chelsea Foster and husband Tyce of Lubbock, TX and Tess Meacham and husband Chris as well as her new Great-grandson Dawson Kade Meacham of Aurora, CO, brothers Robert Hanson and wife Theresa and John Hanson and wife Dana, all of Las Cruces, and James Hanson and wife Mary of Flora Vista, NM, as well as nieces and nephews.Arlene was born on March 19, 1941 in Bisbee, AZ to Evelyn and William Hanson. The family relocated to Las Cruces in 1948. She attended Las Cruces High prior to marrying Donald in 1958. Together they built a successful construction business that they ran together until they retired in 2005. She enjoyed working in her yard, camping with family, bowling and playing cards with many friends, including Betty Morris, her best friend since High School. Arlene's love for animals was surpassed only by her love for her family and friends.A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, January 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Getz Funeral Home. The family would like to thank her loving caregiver Virginia Black and the staff at Casa Bella Memory Care and Amber Care Hospice.
