Arlene Edith Ault of East Tawas, formerly of Saginaw, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Tawas Village Assisted Living, age 93. Arlene was born on July 22, 1922 in Saginaw to Max and Emma (Brandt) Yahn. She graduated from Saginaw High School in the Class of 1940 and then went to work at Michigan Bell Telephone Company during World War II. She also worked as a "Candy Striper" during the evenings at Saginaw St. Mary's Hospital. Arlene married James E. Ault in 1946, and soon began their family of three sons, all of whom Arlene stayed at home to raise during their childhood. She returned to the workforce after her sons had grown, and began work at the Saginaw YMCA for eight years. She and James moved to Tawas City in 1970 and she went to work for the East Tawas Elementary School as a secretary. She retired in 1983 to enjoy her interests in sailing, bowling, knitting, walking and reading. Arlene was a very active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Tawas City. She was proud of the Tawas community and always was very thankful for having the opportunity to live on Lake Huron. Surviving are her three sons, James Peter (Tomi) Ault of Perkin, Ill., Richard Stewart Ault of Melbourne, Fla. and Michael David Ault of Benton Harbor; her sister and brother-in-law; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and special friends. Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Ault, in 2007. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 21 at 11:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Tawas City. Visitation will be on Saturday, May 21 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Buresh Funeral Home.
