ARDITH I. STABENOW, 83 LENA - Ardith I. Stabenow, 83, of Lena passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, IL. Ardith was born on December 12, 1929 in Sciota Mills, IL. She was the daughter of Earl and Luella (Schultz) Phillips. Ardith graduated from Lena High School in the class of 1947. On December 28, 1946, she was married to Raymond Stabenow. For many years she, along with her husband farmed in the Orangeville area until his passing in July 1974. Ardith went to work for Cadillac Window Company in Winslow. She was later a cook at the local restaurant in Winslow, and then worked for the Mitek Company in Winslow until her retirement in 1995.Ardith was a member of Rebecca's Lodge of Orangeville and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lena. She belonged to the Piece Corp Quilters at Good Shepherd church. She was a member of the Friendship Club and Share Food Pantry. Ardith volunteered at the Lena Food Pantry. She enjoyed gardening at home and giving her canned goods to family and friends. She loved to grow flowers and enjoyed music and sports. She is survived by one son, Allen (Valerie) Stabenow of Freeport, IL, one daughter, Sylvia (Michael) Barr of Pecatonica, IL, brother Lowell Phillips of Warren, IL, two sisters Irene (Clifton) Smith of Kentucky and Nancy (Charlie) Boop of Pearl City, IL, two sister in-law's, Patricia Phillips and Donna Phillips both of Lena, IL, four grandchildren, Allison, Amy, Sara (Shawn) Ostgarden and Brian, and three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her favorite pet dog Ginger. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter in infancy and two brothers, Don Phillips and Gary Phillips. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 27, 2013, at Leamon Funeral Home in Lena, IL. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 12:00 noon till time of service. Pastor Miranda Klosterboer will officiate at the service. Luncheon will be provided at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church following burial. Burial will be in Lena Burial Park at Lena, IL.
