Anne P. Hockenberry - SAVANNAH - Lucinda Anne Pippin Hockenberry died December 2nd, 2016. She was born on June 23, 1925 in Midville, GA to the late Thomas Edward Pippin and Nancy Brown Pippin. Anne was preceded in death by her loving husband, retired Lt. Col. Homer Hockenberry, a dashing young captain in the Air Force, whom she met while entertaining soldiers during WWII. The youngest of three Midville beauties, Anne adored her sisters Martha Cannon and Sara Ellis. Anne was a member of Aldersgate and White Bluff United Methodist Churches. She enjoyed the women's garden club, volunteering at Candler Hospital, and playing bridge. Her passion was cooking made-from-scratch traditional southern dishes including squash casserole, pot roast, and life- changing sour cream pound cake! Surviving are her three children, Vern and Lynn Ann Hockenberry of Macon, GA, Jerome and Cindy Butler of Savannah, and Tom and Amy Hockenberry of Cumming, GA; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A special thank you goes to the wonderful care staff at The Arbors of Savannah Commons for giving so much love to Anne. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o'clock Monday, December 12, at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue. A celebration of her life will be at 11 o'clock Monday, December 12, in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service. Private burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
