Anna Michelle Layne-MerrittAnna Michelle Layne-Merritt, "Anna Banana,"daughter of Charles T. Blackwell and Judith K. Jernigan, was born on July 25th, 1967 in Pensacola, Florida at Sacred Heart Hospital. She was raised in Olive Baptisit Church, graduated from W.J.Woodham High School and attended Pensacola Junior College. She had an accomplished career at Builders First Source where she was known for her humor and light-heartedness.She passed away peacefully from her long battle with cancer on November 1st, 2016 at the Joyce Goldenberg Center in Pensacola, Florida. She was preceded in death by her "Mee-Maw" Irma Jernigan, and her "Paw-Paw" Thames Jernigan. Anna is survived by her beautiful daughter Brittain Layne, husband Bryan Merritt, father Charles Blackwell, mother Judith Jernigan, siblings Barry Blackwell, Katie McCrea, Sheree Stewart, and Linda Bentley, as well as her Aunt Kathryn Barrow, Aunt Alexis Diane Fowler, Aunt Toni Foutz, and her beloved Aunt Linda Fogle. Anna loved spending time with friends and family, was always the life of the party, enjoyed being near the water and going to the beach. Her cats Percy, Mister, Baby, and Butch were also a very special part of her life. Even in the hardest time of her life, she always put others before herself. Anna brought so many gifts to our lives and we will never forget her. She will be deeply missed and remain in our hearts forever.
