Ann (Nancy) Sanderson, 75, of North Scranton, passed away on Dec. 9, 2016, at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton.Nancy was born on March 14, 1941, and was the widow of John Sanderson. Nancy was a member of Mary, Mother of God Church, North Scranton. She graduated from North Scranton High School in 1959. Nancy retired from Clarks Summit State Hospital as a Psychiatric Aide in 1990 after 18 years. She always wanted to be a nurse and finally went to nursing school at the age of 60. She was vice president of her class at Career Technology Center and received her LPN License in 2001.She was employed at Elan Gardens Personal Care Home in Clarks Summit, until last year. She loved going to work every day to see the residents and friends. Nursing and caring for others came naturally to her. This was especially evident in the loving care that she gave her beloved husband, John, until he passed away in 2006. The love that they had was beautiful and inspiring to say the least.Nancy organized Sub-Chapter 8704 of ASCME Retirees and remained president until September 2009. She was an avid pool player and bowler. She loved to crochet and do needlepoint when she wasn't getting lost in a good book. Nancy's favorite pastime most certainly was surrounding herself with friends and family to enjoy parties at her pool. Nothing made her and John happier than entertaining and having loved ones near. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Sanderson; her identical twin sister, Margaret Teste; her brother, Anthony Teste; and her sister, Claire Griffiths. Surviving are her niece, Margaret, of Dalton; also, her friends, Susie and Brian Davis and their children who loved her dearly and considered her family.A blessing service will be conducted Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton.
