South Padre Island, TX - Ann L. Wells, long-time resident of South Padre Island, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016 after a lengthy battle with cancer at the age of 77.Ann was born on March 31, 1939 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Victor and Vivian Torres. She married James Wells and had 3 children that they raised in Michigan. In 1978 the Wells family moved to South Padre Island where they became involved in the real estate business and in 1980 she became half owner of Wells Realtors Inc. and for 36 years she enjoyed a very successful real estate career.She had many close friends in the lower Laguna Madre Area and was loved by everyone who knew her. She loved to go out to dinner on South Padre Island and thoroughly enjoyed the company she had while at Blackbeard's, D' Pizza Joint, Cap'n Roys or other venues. She loved to fish and had won the LKT numerous times. She was also the money counter for the TIFT tournament and always prided herself for being accurate to the penny on the pots. She was a member of the Chapel by the Sea Church of South Padre Island and she was a past member of the Port Isabel Rotary.She is survived by her children: Richard Wells of Port Isabel TX; Vicki Lambert of Bellville, TX ; and James Christopher Wells of South Padre Island, TX; 8 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; her sister Janet Emmert (David) and 1 niece and 1 nephew all from Battle Creek, Michigan. A celebration of Ann's life will be held on a later date to be announced at Chapel by the Sea of South Padre Island, TX.
