Anita G. Ekdahl, 83, formerly of Manchester, died Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at the Community Hospice House. She was born on March 7, 1933, the daughter of the late Louis Riel and Emma (Heroux) Riel. She was the loving wife of 55 years to the late Albin Ekdahl. Anita received a Bachelor's degree in fine arts from Notre Dame College, and went on to be an art teacher in the Goffstown school system for many years. She was a skilled artist, and no medium was out of her reach - she crafted many beautiful pieces throughout her life. She also taught kindergarten for many years at Rising Generation Daycare in New Boston until her retirement. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her brother, Maurice Riel. She leaves behind her three daughters, Donna Lee Wilson Tibbetts, Leah E. Brown, and Pamela McCurdy; her six grandchildren, Sarah Audet, Megan Wilson, Seth McCurdy, Karl McCurdy, Samantha Little, and Emma Little; as well as seven great grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. SERVICES: A memorial gathering will be held at Phaneuf Funeral Home and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH on Monday, November 14 at 10AM, with a memorial service at 11AM. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH at 1PM. Family and friends are invited to attend.
