Angela Parson CarrollOak Ridge, TNAngela Parson Carroll was born on November 18, 1941 in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee to Clarence C. Parson and Flois Finnerty Parson. She departed this life on August 22, 2017 from Glioblastoma. Angela moved to Oak Ridge when she was four with her family so her father could work on the Manhattan Project. She attended Elm Grove and Jefferson Junior High Schools. She graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1959 where she was a member of the National Honor Society. Education was very important to her so she returned to college at the age of 40, graduating from Tusculum University in 1986 with a BS in business. She and her family were original members of Highland View Church of Christ. Angela worked for the Department of Energy after high school until she left to raise her family. After her children got older she returned to work at DOE as an administrative assistant in the Construction Division. She retired from DOE in 2005 as a contract specialist. After a few months of retirement, she decided retirement wasn't for her and returned to work for Haselwood and then Tetra Tech Inc. in various positions for 10 more years before finally retiring in 2016. The most important thing in Angela's life was her family. She loved to cook, especially for her family who gathered every Sunday afternoon for a family meal. She loved holidays especially Christmas, preparing large meals for family and friends. In her later years, she spent many hours attending her grandchildren's activities. She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, James Parson, Spencer (Billy) Parson and Robert Parsons. She is survived by two daughters, Jean Hughey and Donna Miller; and a son and daughter-in-law, John and Stephanie Carroll. Twelve grandchildren, Joshua, Jonny (Beth), Jacob (Raven), and Holly Miller; McKenna and McKayla Gibson; Cara (Taylor), Ryan, Rhen and Kinsey Hughey; and Sophie and Sarah Carroll; one great-grandchild, Drew Thomas and two sisters, Priscilla (Nelson) Lingle and Bettye Hawkins.
