Amelia B Phipps, 88, passed away on Sunday January 12, 2013 in Yuma, AZ. She was born on August 2, 1924 in Wright, NY.Amelia was a senior accounting clerk for Security Pacific Bank. She enjoyed sewing, needlework, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her razor wit and caring nature will be missed by her family and friends.Amelia is survived by her son, Charles W. Phipps Jr. of Yuma, AZ; sister, Dottie Peckham of Howard Ohio; granddaughters, Dawn M Phipps of Pico Rivera, CA; Candace Raveles of Yuma, AZ; Noreen Edington of Phoenix, AZ; and Valerie Leyva of Kingman, AZ; grandsons, Charles W Phipps III of Boulevard, CA, and Jaime Martinez of Yuma, AZ. along with 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.Amelia was preceded in death by her husband Charles W Phipps Sr; father, Sidney Becker; mother, Kathryn Becker; brothers, James, Leslie, Herbert, Robert and sisters, Nellie, Esther, Hilda, Jeanann and grandson, Scott A Phipps.Private cremation will be handled by Desert Valley Mortuary.Please sign the guestbook at www.yumasun.com/obituaries.
