LORAIN – Althea Kimberly Dunlap Ward, 57, passed away on November 21, 2016. Althea, known to close friends and family as "Kimberly," was born on January 12, 1959, in Lorain, Ohio. She is survived by her parents: Maxine and Mathias Donald Dunlap, her two daughters: Whitney and Chelsea Ward, and her siblings: Mathias Donald Dunlap Jr., Margie Brown, and Deborah Dunlap. Althea graduated from Ohio Northern University obtaining a B.S. in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Design Engineering. She obtained her M.S. in Industrial Engineering from LSU with a concentration in Environmental Applications and had extensive research experience at Mayo Clinic and Ergonomics Inc. Althea was also a Perkins Fellow. She completed all courses towards her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of South Carolina. She was published in numerous publications, all of which she received distinguish recognition. Althea worked as a supervising manufacturing process engineer at Ford Motor in the industrial manufacturing division. She acted as a consultant with Inhouse Survey company and the Environmental Protection Agency. She also presented her research at the University of Cairo in Egypt. She had numerous passions including traveling, spending time with her children and family, and designing jewelry. She founded her own jewelry line, "CKW Pearls," named after her and her daughters. She was a loving mother, an entrepreneur and artist, and an adventurer. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Send flower donations to Brown-Robinson Funeral Home.
