Alphonso A. DaleyStaatsburg, NY - Alphonso A. Daley, 88, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie passed away on July 26, 2017 at the Renaissance Rehabilitation & Nursing Care Center in Staatsburg, NY surrounded by family.Mr. Daley was a Domestic Engineer for Vassar College for many years up until his retirement in 1974. He enjoyed gardening and riding his bike throughout Poughkeepsie visiting with friends and family.Alphonso known to many as "Fonso" was born on February 17, 1929 in Trelawny, Jamaica. He was the son of the late Israel Daley and Bernita Gordon .On March 25, 1975 at the First Baptist Church in Poughkeepsie he married Norma Davis. Mrs. Daley survives at home in Spanaway, Washington. His survivng children include; Michelle Daley of Washington, Israel Daley, Alphonso Daley Jr and wife Donnett Daley, Jacqueline (Bartley) Green and husband Brian Green, Jennifer Cohen of New York, Eulalee Daley, Ruby Daley of Jamica and Alfred Daley of Canada. He is also survived by several grandchildren, his brothers and sisters in Jamaica and several nieces, nephews and cousins and close family friends.A gathering for family and friends will take place on Thursday August 3rd from 10:00am to 11:00am with a service to follow at 11:00am at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 218 Mill St. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
