Aloha Annabelle McConnell LewisJune 18, 1920January 2, 2017Aloha passed away peacefully on January 2nd at the age of 96. She was born on June 18, 1920 to Ed and Millie McConnell. As her father was a ranch manager, the family moved around a lot and her mother and her two younger sisters Dolores and Delele had to adapt quickly to new schools, towns and homes. She met Sherman Lewis in Yerington, Nevada and in her words, she "fell flat on her face". Sherman was a dashing cowboy and later became a ranch manager for large corporations taking them to Calabases, CA, Morgan Hills, CA, Red Bluff, CA, and places in Nevada. They had a son Ira, who was their pride and joy. Tragically in 1967, Ira drowned at the age of 20. Shortly after Aloha and Sherman retired and moved to Reno to be near their families. Sherman later died in January of 1992.Aloha loved everyone and everyone loved Aloha. She was a loving and kind soul who will be greatly missed. She was always smiling and giggling. Aloha began to knit beautiful afghans for family members and friends, especially newborns. They became her "signature" gift. Aloha loved her pets and watching the 49ers on TV. Aloha is survived by her sister Delele Garaventa and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank The Arbors Memory Care and its employees and the nurses of Infinity Hospice for their kindness in treating Aloha in her final months.A ceremony will be held at Walton's Funeral Chapel on 875 W. Second Street on January 12th at 3:00pm. In Lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Nevada Humane Society at 2825 Longley Lane Suite B, Reno, NV 89502.
