Alicia Segovia Ortiz, 67, a resident of Las Vegas for the past 30 years, passed away on Oct. 6, 2014, at her residence from cancer. She was preceded in death by her mother, Angela Guadalupe Segovia and father, Hernan Gomez; her beloved husband, Eloy Roberto Ortiz; her mother-in-law, Pauline V. Ortiz; father-in-law, Eloy Ortiz; a sister-in-law, Prescilla Garcia and a brother-in-law, Raymond Garcia.She is survived by her daughters, Cecilia Coca of Rio Rancho, and Lala Jansen and husband, David of Albuquerque, and a son, Abraham Ortiz of Albuquerque. She has five grandchildren, Cecily Coca, Jeffrey Coca Jr., Christopher Jansen, Brianna Jansen, and Alyssa Jansen, and by her close friends, Anna Romero, Isabella Sanchez, and Edward Gallegos, all of Las Vegas. She was born on Dec. 10, 1946, in San Miguel, El Salvador. She worked as a caregiver for many years for various companies and families as well as owned two successful restaurants in Las Vegas. She is loved by many people whom she always considered family.Cremation has taken place and services will be held from Our Lady of Sorrows Church with a rosary at 7 p.m. Monday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9 p.m. Tuesday. The interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the Building Fund at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 403 Valencia St. Las Vegas, NM 87701.
