Adele Watson Reid, 88, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2016 surrounded by her family at Southminster in Charlotte, NC.She was born on April 4, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA, the youngest child of Grace Underwood Watson and Andrew Clifford Watson.Adele was married to A. Bruce Reid for 63 years. Bruce preceded her in death this past June. She is survived by four daughters: Jennifer Reid Kolmer and her husband, Kevin of Berwyn, PA, Holly Reid Bryant and her husband, Harry, Meredith Reid Graves and her husband, Kelly, and Adele Reid Dillon and her husband, Mark, all of Charlotte; eleven grandchildren: Kevin Kolmer, Jr. and his wife, Kelly, Christopher Kolmer and his wife, Allison, Meredith Kern and her husband, Griffin, Brick Bryant and his wife, Elizabeth, Josh Bryant and his wife, Frances, Emily Bryant, Sarah Graves, Caroline Graves, Reid Dillon, Christopher Dillon, and Mark Dillon, Jr. She also has four great grandchildren, Tripp and Megan Kolmer, Clarke Bryant and Jack Kolmer. Adele was also preceded in death by her brother, Theodore Watson.Adele was a lovely, kind, caring and friendly Lady. She loved to compete in sports and was a fierce competitor, whether it be on the court or on the course. Adele was ever so supportive of her daughters in all their activities. They were "who kept her going". One can only imagine keeping up with four female teenagers. As she grew older, tennis became her passion. Watching some of her grandchildren excel on the courts made her mighty proud. All her grands affectionately called her "Nana". Adele and Bruce loved traveling at home and abroad. Their quality time spent at DeBordieu was where they called their Second Home. They had a wonderful marriage, a special relationship for sure. The love of her Bruce was paramount in her life. The affection shown was so obvious to all of us who knew and loved them. Our loss is Heaven's gain.A service to celebrate the life of Adele Reid will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Southminster, 3919 Park Road.
