Adela Romero, 93, a longtime resident of Las Vegas passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Christus St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe.She was born on May 25, 1920 in Raton to the late Felix Tafoya and Maria Casimira Montano-Tafoya.She worked at the ship yard in California as an underwater welder, she also worked for Javal Parachute Factory, Las Vegas City Schools and Mora-San Miguel Senior Citizens.A Catholic, she was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church.She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Maria Tafoya; husband, Porfirio Romero; brothers, Joe Tafoya, Felipe Tafoya, Arturo Tafoya, and Leo Tafoya; sister, Lala Marquez; twin daughters, Mary Louise and Mary Ann Romero; grandson, Delfinio Romero, Jr.; and son-in-law, Delfinio Romero, Sr.She is survived by her daughter, Jean Velasquez of Las Vegas, Nev; sons, Sonny Romero and wife, Marian, Benny Romero and wife, Elaine, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; son-in-law, Henry Romero; grandchildren, Benito Romero (Amanda), Jesus Romero (Amanda), Diego Romero (Jaklynn), Angel Marie Romero, Bern Jaramillo, Eileen Jaramillo, Bianca Velasquez, Henry Romero, Jr., David Romero, Annette Garcia (Ronald), Barbara Romero, Irene (Carlos), Genevive Loya (Arando), Brenda (Luciano) and Kevin Romero; 39 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; close cousin, Gonzalo and Rosa Montano of California; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.Rosary services will be held at 7 p.m. today (Monday) at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Tuesday also at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Father Douglas Mitchell as celebrant. Serving as casket bearers will be Benito Romero, Jesus Romero, Diego Romero, Bern Jaramillo, Henry Romero, Jr., and Joe Page. Serving as honorary bearers will be all her remaining grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
